Most students know the names of the different body weapons in the Ninja's art. But many, like the sokki-ken 'knee/shin'
Hey ...
One of the things you learn when you expand your training from just the mechanics of techniques and into the realms of the mind - specifically how we human beings "think" about things... you learn about a little bias that the mind uses called: Anchoring Bias. I talk about this tendency to attach ourselves to the first way we saw or were taught
something, as the RIGHT AND ONLY way to do that thing. And, when it comes to the shinobi-warrior's use of "tricky Ninja" tactics, nothing could be more true. During this week's Warrior's Whiteboard Wednesday, we took at how this happens with regards to Metsubushi ('sight-crushing" or 'blinding' techniques), and how most people get fixated on those cool blinding powders that they saw the hero Ninja use in the movies.
But, just as with everything in Ninjutsu, there's WAY
more than meets the eye (pun-intended!). I went into how and why this weapon was invented (it's not what most students think), and how it's really just a quick expedient for a much higher level Master's skill set in the realm of psychological warfare and mind control. I know... cool, right?!
That's the topic and focus for the techniques and skills I'll be teaching during tonight's Friday Virtual Masterclass where we'll be looking at examples from both sides of the
proverbial coin.
Here's the link to register for this virtual Ninjutsu class, broadcast from my dojo via Zoom, tonight at 6pm eastern, where I'll be teaching several techniques that demonstrate what I covered in this week's Warrior's Whiteboard Wednesday around this high-level concept.
If you missed the Whiteboard Wednesday training, here's the link to get caught up on my Youtube channel (don't forget to like and subscribe while you're there so you don't miss the notifications for each week's episode):
