I know you've heard the phrase; "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face." But I just heard one yesterday that, with a little adjustment to what we're doing (I heard in a business training), it turned into:
"Wanna-Warriors high on hope-ium."
That means
that everyone wants to fight - everyone wants to win - but most people just throw out a bunch of stuff... kind of shotgun-style... and "hope" that enough sticks so they can do that.
We all know that's the plan, especially in a brutal attack situation against someone truly trying to beat, break, or kill you or someone you're trying to protect - in situations where there are no do-over's, talking smack afterwards, or rematch requests later to save our wounded
egos.
And sometimes, we can't go on or stay on the defensive for too long, because we'll get run-over. Regardless of whatever bravado, or tough-guy attitude Ego wants to believe... we know this in our gut.
If we screw this up, it's not going to end well!
We HAVE to move quickly, get the first shot or shots in, execute on that technique without wasting shots or missing an opportunity... and do it in a way that he can't stop or prevent
what we're doing.
We NEED to take the fight to him, and shut him down before he even knows what happened. He started it, but we're going to finish it... quickly, and with the least number of moves in the process... so we can get out of there and not end up in jail, the ER, or the morgue!
Because if we don't, we know the consequences could be catastrophic!
That's why, after years of bouncing around from this style to that one...
trying to find something that matched my experience of violence, both while growing up and as a police officer...
...when I found Ninjutsu and the different options - the different strategic flexibility that it offered me, and the ability to adapt to any given situation with THE strategy that was needed to shut THAT one down as quickly as possible that it gave me... I was ALL IN.
But, and this is a HUGE but... we both know that your attacker trying to do the
SAME THING, at the same time... to YOU!
And that, my friend... is why what I teach to students in module 3 of our Warrior Concepts Black Belt Program - what we call the Dominate and Win! Realm of the Committed Warrior Program - is so important. Because it answers the
questions...
...how do we get him first... even if he's faster than us?
How do we NOT let him get in the first shot, and even if he does...
...how do we not stay in defense mode too long and take the initiative quickly?
More importantly, because this can sound like what everyone else is doing...
...how do we not just throw a bunch of shit and hope that enough sticks so we can "hopefully"
win?
How can we use targeted precision, because like many of my students who are law enforcement, security, or just private citizens who've had to really use this stuff outside the dojo or "ring" have learned...
... you have to make every shot count, and you need to be able to get as much power into each strike, lock, or throw so you don't need more than a shot or three before things are over.
So, if you're looking to escape the
"take-one-to-get-one," trading-shots mentality, and you definitely don't want to be just another "Wanna-Warrior who's high on, or who goes into a bad situation "high on hope-ium," then here's the link to check out the new Dominate and Win! program starting this week:
