⚠️ When "Traditional" was "Modern"🥷
Published: Mon, 03/11/24
The focus on the weapon was to look at something that those dead-set on seeing as "traditional" in their training, and wanting to hold on to, know matter what... miss big-time!
Know what it is?
I can understand if you don't because it's easy to miss. I know I missed it for a long time until it (figuratively) punched me in the face!
It's this: What we see as "traditional" or "historical" was, to our past masters... MODERN technology!
Not our "modern," but theirs!
The base techniques were focused on dealing with the problems, methods and, yes, attacks of the time.
They were also based on how things were done... then!
Here's what I mean, and this is where the hanbo lesson comes in... what we see as a cane or walking stick today... wasn't a walking stick back in the day.
Look at any Japanese or Chinese painting with an old man walking with a stick and you'll see... a LONG STAFF. The hanbo was a "what-if" tool. To cut a longer lesson down a bit... the gist was... What-if your spear, staff, or halberd was broken or cut to that length?
In today's world, you're more likely to see a short stick, cane, umbrella, etc. lying around, or being carried... than a long pole. In today's world, the hanbo is the "cane" and the long staff (pool cue, push broom handle, etc.) is the "what-if" weapon. And this is an important lesson, and something I focus on along with two other critical points for using this art for modern self-defense, in my book: "3 Massive Mistakes..."
I'm giving it away fr.e.e. for those who are serious about their training.I hope that includes you but, in all honesty, I'm not here to brow-beat, or convince anyone that they need to do things a certain way. You will do "you" regardless of what I say. Which is why I routinely purge my email subscriber lists (and will be doing it again soon) to drop those who don't open, read, or take action on the lessons I put out.
Here's the link to grab the book now if you want it: https://onlineninjaacademy.com/3-massive-mistakes/
Just as a heads-up, and to be completely transparent, after you grab the book, and while it's being delivered to the email address you provide (so, be prepared to check your email)...
...I'm also offering a 2 week "Crash Course," which is a trial of my "Foundations of Ninjutsu Self-Defense" Program. It's optional, of course and, like I said... you'll do you, as always.
Either way, this digital book is f.re.e. for a little while longer so, if you want to know what these mistakes are (I've already hinted at #1)...
But, I'd be remiss as a teacher if I didn't offer you the opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and get above average training.
Anyway...
That's it.
I look forward to training with you very soon!
In Mastery!
