🥷Ax-throwing and Shuriken Ninja Stars 🥷
Published: Mon, 11/13/23
Have you ever seen, or to been to a place that offers ax-throwing. Maybe it was a restaurant, a bar (nothing like drinking and then throwing sharp implements!)...
...or maybe you've been to one of those renaissance faires where they have (supposedly) medieval games and rides for the fantasy-lovers.
Either way, if you know what I'm talking about you may be wondering why I'm equating ax-throwing with shuriken throwing... other than the fact that they're both metal objects that people throw. ;)
What they have in common is that, the way most people do them... and feel super confident and all warm and fuzzy inside about...
...is that they stop at:
1) Throwing at stationary targets...
2) From a STATIONARY position
I get it... it's where you need to start, but NOT the skill set you (or our ancient Ninja forefathers) need for using them (or anything like them) in a self-defense situation.
You know, where you AND your attacker will both be MOVING!
Where, when you launch the weapon, you may be:
- Going into or coming out of a roll (or even in the middle of one!)
- Evading an incoming attack
- Leaping
- etc.
This requires a MUCH different skill set.
This is why the way we hold the shuriken, not to mention the way our arm moves when we throw them...
...has to be different from the methods you can use when you're standing still and throwing at something that is neither moving... not ATTACKING YOU while you're trying to hit it!
That's the primary point, and reason behind my SHURIKEN TRAINING MANUAL (available here: http://www.warrior-concepts-online.com/shurikenbook.html)
It's a basic primer for those just getting started with this important part of the Ninja's Hachimon (traditional 8-Gates of required training in ancient Japan)...
...AND a way for intermediate and advanced students to make sure you didn't stop your skill development BELOW combat proficiency!
If this is something you're interested in, you can grab your copy of the Shuriken Training Manual HERE!
If not, hey, the choice is yours.

PS - **I'm not going to tell you "take your shuriken skills to the next level," because that means NOTHING if you don't have a specific goal with your training. BUT... if you're training in this powerful system for real-world abilities against actual violence... then I AM telling you that you're going to need to not "settle" for just a "good enough for Black Belt" or "feel good" feeling because you can hit a stationary target that's not trying to kill you! IF THAT'S the goal, then grab your copy of the Shuriken Training Manual now: http://www.warrior-concepts-online.com/shurikenbook.html
