If you're reading this, then you probably know me at least through another resource you signed up for. That could have been an ebook, article, video training, or you're actually one of my students.

But I thought I'd take a moment to give you a little bit more of a backstory (it'll be short, I promise!) as to who I am, how I got here, and why I might be just a little bit more qualified to teach what I do than a lot of others who are trying to convince you that they're the proverbial $h!t.

I mean, let's face it... you've got a lot of choices and very little time in your day to give attention to everyone. You have to pick and choose. So...

I was raised in a very abusive home, and watched my mom almost die at the hands of a violent stepfather before I was 10 years old. That, and far too many other incidents, including the fact that she wouldn't leave, set me on a path to eventually join the military and become a police officer.

The idea was to become someone who could stop the monsters from doing to others what I was powerless to stop as a child. Truth be told, I was also on a path to make sure that I would NEVER have to live in that kind of fear, myself, ever again.

Hence the attraction to martial arts, self-defense, and survival training. (As a back door, this also lead me to the personal development and self-mastery teachings as well!)

Anyway... fast forward 43 years at this point, and what I have to offer is not only decades worth of training in this art and others, under some of THE best masters I could find through 6 countries and on 3 continents (yes, I've been around the block a bit!)... including becoming a Dai-Shihan directly under 34th generation headmaster of the Togakure Ninja Lineage, and the 8 other lineages that make up the Bujinkan dojo of Soke Masaaki Hatsumi...

...but also years of experience in dealing with actual violent individuals on the street... actually using the art in real-time... outside the dojo... something that only a small percentage of teachers in this art can lay claim to.

That experience includes:

• Military police liason between Korean & German National Police forces when stationed in those two countries as a US Army Military Police Officer

• Undercover Drug and Black Market Investigator

• Security and personal bodyguard assignments protecting such dignitaries as a former secretary of defense, the commanding general during operation "urgent fury" in Grenada, and several members of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders

• Protecting my wife from a "friend" who, in a blind rage because of anger-management problems we didn't know about, attacked her and needed a "lesson"

• and more... (what can I say... some of us are just protectors who step in when needed to do what most won't or, more importantly... CAN'T!)

Some of this experience being included in an article that I was asked to write by the grandmaster to showcase the need for students to find teachers with more than just kata and "moves."

It's this knowledge AND experience, both inside and (more importantly) outside the dojo... putting these teachings to work in the real-world, that makes me a pretty good damned fit for others looking for this combination...

People like:

• The police officer in Perth, Western Australia who has used these lessons (both martial and life mastery) do everything from protect himself and others on the street, and get job promotions and other life benefits for himself...

• The military operators who regular email with "thank you" messages, telling me to keep it up, because they need these lessons to stay alive... every day...

• To other instructors, and martial arts experts in their own right, incompletely different martial arts who have been able to apply these lessons to what they do...
